At about 3:50 p.m. on Monday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle accident that sent both drivers and six year old passenger to the hospital. The accident at the intersection of North Eastwood and N.E. Industrial Highway northeast of Norfolk occurred when a southbound SUV driven by Christine Bobo, 68, of Norfolk failed to yield and struck an eastbound jeep on N.E. Industrial Highway. The collision forced both vehicles off the roadway and a six year old passenger in the jeep was ejected from the vehicle into the ditch. The child was transported in critical condition to FRHS with possible internal injuries. The driver of the Jeep Tatiana Figueroa,39, of Woodland Park and Bobo were both taken to the hospital by ambulance. It is believed an improper sized booster seat in the jeep did not function properly during the impact. Seatbelts were in use and airbags deployed in both vehicles. Both vehicles are considered to be total losses. Woodland Park/Hoskins Fire and Rescue responded along with Norfolk Rescue and Stanton County Emergency Management also assisted the Sheriff’s office.
