Christmas Blizzard Keeps Sheriff’s Office Busy

The blizzard like snow, winds and icy road conditions kept the Sheriff’s office occupied during the snowy Christmas Day. The Sheriff’s office responded to several calls for service involving vehicles in the ditch or disabled. The Sheriff’s office also responded to two separate traffic accidents on Hwy 275 about two miles west of Pilger around 7:00 p.m. due to extremely icy road conditions. One accident involved a westbound SUV leaving the roadway and striking a snow embankment and rolling onto it side. Both occupants were checked at the scene by Pilger Rescue but declined medical transport. As of ten o’clock the sheriff’s office was still responding to several vehicles that had slid off the highways. The Sheriff’s office reminds everyone to take winter travel seriously and slow down and always use seatbelts when travelling any distance.
