On Monday morning just after midnight the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was notified by a 911 call of a 50 year old male who was injured by some type of explosion in his vehicle that caused traumatic injuries to a hand and other parts of his body. The incident took place near Union Creek Road southwest of Stanton. Members of the Sheriff’s office were on scene within minutes and began treatment of the extensive injuries. Stanton Rescue and Norfolk Rescue also responded to the scene as did Life Net medical helicopter who transported the male from the scene to FRHS for emergency surgery, The Sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident and the initial investigation is that some type of firework or homemade explosive was most likely responsible.
