On Monday morning just after 10:00 a.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a injury traffic accident involving a Massey Ferguson Tractor and Chevy Suburban. The accident occured just east of Crown Road on Hwy 275 about two miles east of Norfolk. The accident occurred when the tractor that was pulling a trailer was struck from behind by the suburban and the impact ejected the 15 year old tractor driver onto the roadway and wedged the trailer into the suburban. The 15 year old was transported to FRHS by Norfolk Fire and Rescue. The 38 year old Suburban driver and her 6 year old daughter were restrained and airbags deployed in their vehicle. They were checked at the scene by Norfolk Fire/Rescue and taken to FRHS by private vehicle. The tractor was split in half and the back end ended up about 25 yards into the north ditch. Both vehicles were totaled and westbound lanes of Hwy 275 were closed about an hour and traffic was rerouted both ways in the eastbound lanes of Hwy 275. Stanton County Emergency Management assisted at the scene. “It is miraculous that the tractor driver was not more seriously injured or killed in the collision.“SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
