On Wednesday evening at about 6:40 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of Hwy 275 and Hwy 57 (Spurville) north of Stanton. The accident occurred when a pickup on Hwy 275 turned left (north) onto 566th Avenue from eastbound Hwy 275 into the path of a westbound IROC Camaro on Hwy 275. The collision spun both vehicles approximately 180 degrees with the Camaro blocking one lane of westbound Hwy 275. The 71-year-old driver of the Camaro was removed from the wreckage by first responders and transported to FRHS by Stanton Rescue with serious injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the pickup declined medical treatment at the scene. It was unclear if seatbelts were in use in the Camaro and both vehicles appear to be totaled. Stanton County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
