Two Females Sentenced to Prison in District Court

Natasha Vaness-Hauf, 28, formerly of Stanton was sentenced to one year in prison on a Forgery conviction and also one year for Failure to Appear for sentencing. Those sentences will run consecutive to a current prison sentence out of Madison County. Vaness-Hauf was arrested by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office last year on the forgery charge and later after failing to appear she was taken into custody at a Norfolk residence by the Sheriff’s office who served a search warrant on her at that location. Also sentenced to one year in prison on a conviction of Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) was Cheri Thornton, 61, of Norfolk. She was arrested last September by the Sheriff’s office on Hwy 275 near Pilger and found in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine. Sentenced to 30 days in jail for Third Offense Driving While Intoxicated was William Zohner,31, Norfolk after entering a plea agreement reducing the original DWI arrest from a felony. Zohner also received two years of probation and loss of his drivers license for 6 years and a $1000.00 fine. He was arrested last year near Norfolk by the Sheriff’s office. Sentenced to seven days on a post-relief conviction violation was Seth Gatewood, 31, of Pender. He violated his release after serving a prison sentence from a felony theft conviction in Stanton in 2022 after being arrested by the Sheriff’s office.
