Seatbelts Credited With Preventing Serious Injuries in Hwy 24 Crash

At about 12:20 p.m. on Friday the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 24 near 840th Avenue about two miles east of Norfolk. Both adult male drivers were treated at the scene by Norfolk Fire and Rescue and declined medical transport. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts which the Sheriff’s office credits with preventing serious injuries. The accident occurred when an eastbound pickup pulling an enclosed trailer slowed to turn right into a private drive and the second eastbound pickup pulling a loaded flatbed trailer swerved to miss the turning pickup and the collided. The second pickup ended up about twenty yards off the roadway in the ditch. The eastbound lane was partially blocked for about 30 minutes as the scene was cleared.
