Sheriff’s Office Completes Mandatory Training on New Taser’s

On Wednesday all the members of the Stanton County Sheriff’s office completed training and certification on their newly issued Taser 7 less lethal weapons that were purchased to replace outdated X-26 tasers that had become difficult to repair or locate new batteries and replacement cartridges. The X-26 tasers have been in service with the Sheriff’s office since 2013 and have proven very effective in dealing with combative or aggressive suspects. Initial training required each individual officer to be subjected to the deployment of the taser, to physically show them effects of the device on the body when deployed. Re-certification on the devices is required every year and the training was instructed by Senior Deputy Michael Petersen who is a certified Taser instructor.
