Sheriff’s Office Honored to Assist in Fallen Hero Honor Ride Through Our County

On Sunday the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was honored to assist in a safety escort of the Fallen Hero Honor Ride that began in Spalding, Nebraska and is travelling east across the Midwest and will end at Arlington National Cemetery in the Washington D.C. area. The bike ride was created and established by Colonel Chris Kolenda, who served as a battalion commander in Afghanistan in 2007 and lost six soldiers under his airborne unit command and he personally will be riding his bike through each of their hometowns starting with the hometown of PFC Chris Pfeiffer of Spalding who was Killed in Action by small arms fire. The ride through Stanton County was along Hwy 32 and a special stop was made at the Don Molacek Veterans Memorial just off Hwy 32, North of Howells in southeastern Stanton County. Colonel Kolenda was very impressed with the rural memorial dedicated to all veterans and displaying a large American flag that flies at all times. “God Bless All That Have Served in Our Military and Especially Those Heroes That Never Came Home”.
