Unknown Person(s) must be upset with the Sheriff’s office efforts to control traffic violations as they intentionally placed a large number of construction nails along a crossover on Hwy 35 near Woodland Park where law enforcement vehicles often park to monitor traffic and speed. The criminal act has led to damage to at least three Sheriff’s office vehicle tires and possibly a state patrol unit. The cost of fixing or replacing the damaged tires falls on the tax payer and could delay emergency response. The Sheriff’s office will continue to perform our duties to the best of our ability including stationary patrol due to high fuel cost. The nails have been collected as evidence and the area along Hwy 35 thoroughly cleaned.
