Weather Causes Accident With Icy Roads Before First Snowfall

At about 4:40 p.m. on Friday the Stanton County Sheriff’s office drove up on an accident caused by icy roads on Hwy 24 about one mile West of Stanton. The accident occurred when a westbound SUV on Hwy 24 lost control due to icy road conditions and crossed the eastbound lane and entered the south ditch striking a grove of trees. The 18 year old female was dazed in the accident and was treated at the scene by EMS, but declined medical transport. Airbags and seatbelts were in use and the SUV is considered a total loss. Snow began to fall heavily as the scene was cleared and SUV towed from the scene.
