Student Injured in Rollover Accident-Flown to UNMC in Omaha

At approximately 7:52 a.m. on Thursday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was notified of a one vehicle rollover accident on Ridge Road about two miles North of Stanton that had ejected the teenage driver.  The driver, Reece Embry, 15, of rural Hoskins was southbound on Ridge Road when he lost control of his vehicle and it entered the west ditch and rolled ejecting him out the rear window.  Embry was found about 40 feet from the vehicle suffering critical injuries.  He was stabilized at the scene by Stanton and Norfolk Fire and Rescue and then flown directly from the scene to UNMC in Omaha by LifeNet medical helicopter.  Seatbelts were not in use and speed in considered a contributing factor.  Embry is a student at the Stanton Community Schools and was enroute to school when the accident occurred.  The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s office.
