At about 1:25 p.m. on Thursday the Stanton County Sheriff's office responded to and investigated a two vehicle accident on Hwy 15 about 8 miles Northwest of Howells that sent a 21 year old Columbus woman to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occurred when a northbound SUV driven by La Teasiah Bordy struck the rear of a northbound grain truck that was turning off Hwy 15 into a private driveway. The driver and a passenger in the grain truck were not injured. Bordy was extricated from the wreckage by Howells Fire and Rescue and transported to the West Point hospital for treatment of her injuries. Seatbelts and airbags deployed in her vehicle lessening potentially fatal injuries. The truck had minor damage and the SUV was a total loss. The highway was blocked for about 45 minutes as the scene was cleared. The Nebraska State Patrol and Stanton County Emergency Management also assisted.
