A 48 year old Columbus woman was sentenced by District Judge Ryan Stover to 24 months of Probation following her felony conviction for Criminal Impersonation. Fidelia Enriquez-Sarceno, 48, was arrested last December by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office following an investigation that began in Rhode island where a woman there was denied state benefits as it was found someone was illegally using her personal information and social security number to gain employment thru false pretenses. As a result of this multi-state investigation, Enriquez-Sarceno was identified and found to be working an agricultural based job in rural Stanton County using the false identity. She was arrested and jailed later posting bond and entered a guilty plea in May and was sentenced to the probation and $15,045.85 in restitution to the Rhode Island woman who was negatively affected.
Also entering guilty pleas in District Court were Sandra Harris, 43, Howells and Matthew Morrison, 43, also of Howells. Harris pled guilty to Attempted Possession of Methamphetamine (10-27 grams) with intent to Deliver and Morrison pled guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine. Both had been charged with more serious felony drug charges that were reduced as part of a plea agreement. They were both arrested this past March following a traffic stop on Hwy 275 north of Stanton where they were stopped for a window tint violation by the Sheriff’s office. As a result of that traffic stop they were both found in possession of a significant quantity of methamphetamine and other controlled substances and paraphernalia. They were both jailed and later released on bonds after several months in the county jail. As a result of their arrest two other search warrants were undertaken by the Sheriff’s office with assistance from the Colfax County Sheriff’s office and Norfolk Police Division in Howells and Norfolk. Asa result of those two warrants additional illegal drugs and paraphernalia were located. In Norfolk three adults were arrested on felony drug charges and their cases are working the way through the court system. “Yes, even Window Tint violations do lead to getting illegal drugs and felons off the street. We take the job of drug enforcement very seriously in Stanton County and are going to do so as long as I’m still the Sheriff.” Sheriff Mike Unger
