During this weekends Stanton County Fair the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was recognized with the 2026 Friends of 4-H Award given annually by Stanton County Extension. The Sheriff’s office was recognized for their continuing efforts in serving the public and the youth of 4-H and Stanton County. One example is yearly in October Sheriff Unger gives presentations through the extension office at Wayne State College to high school students on safety, driver education and law enforcement careers and criminal laws. “The Sheriff’s office is proud of our efforts and continues to strive to do our best, even though currently shorthanded with turnover and the upcoming changing of administrations in January. My deputies are the always willing to make any effort to serve and keep everyone safe.” Sheriff Mike Unger
