Seatbelts Help Save Driver’s Life in Hwy 24 Accident

Just before 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle accident on Hwy 24 about two miles west of Stanton at the intersection of 563rd 1/2 avenue. The accident occurred when a semi hauling a side dump trailer had slowed on Hwy 24 to turn north onto 563rd 1/2 Ave and was struck in the rear end by a westbound SUV driven by a 24 year old Stanton woman who advised she didn’t see the turn signal activated. She was treated at the scene by EMS and declined medical transport. Seatbelt use and airbags deploying are credited with lessening injuries, if not preventing death. The SUV was a total loss and Norfolk Fire and Rescue and Stanton Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to assist.
