At 7:18 a.m. on Friday morning, the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was notified of a one vehicle injury accident about 1.5 miles East of Pilger on U.S. Hwy 275. Upon arrival it was found a eastbound Pontiac had left the roadway and trying to re-enter the highway struck a bridge guardrail. The female driver, Tiffany Robinson, 27, of Norfolk and a male passenger, Cody Miller, 29, of Fremont were not wearing seatbelts and were removed from the wreckage. Miller was transported to the West Point hospital by Wisner Rescue and Robinson was taken to the Wayne hospital by Pilger Rescue with non life-threatening injuries. Just prior to the collision with the guardrail the Sheriff’s office had received two 911 calls from other drivers on Hwy 275 reporting the Pontiac as driving erratically and all over the road. Drug use and speed are believed to be contributing factors in the accident and Robinson was arrested on charges of Reckless Driving and Driving Under the Influence. The Sheriff’s office investigation is continuing into other possible drug violations. Airbags did deploy and the vehicle was a total loss. The highway was completely blocked for more than an hour as the scene was investigated and cleared. Pilger Fire and Rescue, Wisner Fire and Rescue, Stanton County Emergency Management all assisted the Sheriff’s office at the scene.
