Columbus Woman Arrested on Felony Identity Theft Charges

On Friday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office arrested a 48 year old Columbus woman on felony Identity theft charges after she was found to be using the social security number and name of a woman from Pawtucket, Rhode Island who was having her social security benefits deducted for income she had no idea was being generated in her legal name. The investigation revealed that Fidelia Enriquez-Sarceno had illegally entered the United States from Guatemala thru the Mexican border several years ago and purchased a false social security card and Kansas identification card in Omaha for more than a $1000.00 and had been using those false documents since. She was arrested at a rural Stanton County business with assistance from the Colfax County Sheriff’s office. She was booked on the Class 2a felony and then jailed pending the setting of a cash bond by the court. Information on her arrest will be forwarded to federal authorities for possible additional charges. “This arrest shows that illegal entry is a nationwide problem affecting law-abiding citizens negatively and affecting their livelihoods.” SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
