**Madison County Sheriff’s Office Press Release**
A Pierce man is in custody after the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with an incident in Madison County on Sunday.
On Sunday morning around 9:40 a.m., Madison County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of East Eisenhower Avenue and First Street near Norfolk. It was reported that a White male wearing black pants, a red sweatshirt and a black backpack was attempting to enter a residence in the area, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.
As Madison County deputies were en route, Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger heard the radio traffic and advised he was 2 miles away from the incident. Given Stanton County law enforcement officers were closer to the area, they were asked to assist and proceeded into Madison County.
Unger attempted to have contact with the male suspect, who later was identified as 30-year-old Chance Larsen of Pierce. Larsen ran northbound into a cornfield and allegedly ignored multiple verbal commands to stop, continuing to run through the field.
Unger eventually physically subdued Larsen while a Stanton County deputy deployed a Taser, making contact with Larsen’s lower back. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office was then able to detain Larsen, who was placed under arrest by Madison County deputies.
Larsen was booked into the Madison County Jail on suspicion of first-degree trespassing, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest after being medically cleared at the scene by Norfolk Rescue.
Unger said Sunday’s incident was the result of strong inter-agency cooperation.
“This is an example of cooperative law enforcement working as it’s supposed to, especially on the county line,” he said.
