Howells Woman Critically Injured During Physical Altercation at Rural Residence

The Stanton County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate an alleged physical altercation that occurred on Thursday morning at a residence in southeastern Stanton County that led to a 72-year-old Howells woman suffering head trauma that required emergency surgery. The woman went to the West Point hospital after the incident where she quickly deteriorated and was then taken by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital in critical condition where she underwent immediate surgery. An adult male involved in the altercation has been identified and interviewed. The Sheriff’s office is still trying to piece together exactly what transpired at the rural residence.
