Six Transported to Hospital Following Three-Vehicle Accident During Blizzard on Hwy 275

At about 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to and investigated a three-vehicle traffic collision on Hwy 275 about five miles west of Pilger. The accident occurred when a sedan slowed due to white out conditions and a large silver SUV behind them also slowed and was struck in the rear by a black SUV and that pushed the large SUV into the sedan. Ambulances from Pilger Fire and Rescue, Stanton Rescue and Wisner Rescue transported the 25 year old driver of the sedan from Norfolk, a 21 year old female and her infant from Coleridge passengers in the large silver SUV and three people from Bloomfield including a toddler were transported from the black SUV after being extricated to FRHS all with non-life threatening injuries. Six others were also transported to FRHS with non-injuries. Seatbelts were in use and visibility at the time was whiteout (zero) on Hwy 275. The driver of the black SUV was cited for having No Operators License. The highway was closed from Hwy 57 to Hwy 15 for about one hour as the area was cleared and two vehicles were pushed off the roadway and left until better conditions allow removal. A second two vehicle accident was reported at the Hwy 15 and 275 junction at about 1:55 p.m. and resulted in no injuries.
