**UPDATE** Sheriff’s Office Investigating Another Serious Dog Bite and Injury in Stanton

At about 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a serious injury to a 12 year old girl in Stanton who was seriously injured when a German Shepard attacked the girl as she walked her dog at a sidewalk in Stanton. The girl suffered severe damage to her upper left arm and was rushed to FRHS by family. The young girl may still need surgery for the injuries and is obviously very traumatized by incident. The dog was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s office and quarantined at a vet clinic. This is the fifth dog bite/attack in Stanton or Stanton County in the last year that has required hospitalization or surgery. Including one that involved a toddler having part of his nose bitten off by a dog. “Dog owners need to take responsibility for their dogs and keep them under control at all times, remember your liable for your dogs actions.” Sheriff Mike Unger

Updated January 12, 2025:The owners (Randy Blacktaildeer and Alyssa Meyer) of the German Shephard have been criminally charged with Harboring a Dangerous Dog following an investigation by the Sheriff’s office and review by the Stanton County Attorney’s office. They are scheduled to appear in county court on January 27th.
