Earlier this week the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was contacted by the Sherman County Sheriff’s office about a possible sexual assault suspect that lived in Stanton County. During the investigation it was determined that a girl younger than age 11 had been sexually assaulted several times at a Woodland Park residence. The investigation involved forensic interviews of the victim with a child advocacy center and led to the suspect, Henry Pena-Urrutia, 50, being interviewed by the Sheriff’s office and during this interview he admitted improper and illegal sexual contact with the minor child on at least three occasions at a Woodland Park residence. During the investigation two children in his home were removed by the Sheriff’s office and placed in DHHS custody pending the results of this investigation. On Saturday Pena-Urrutia was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s office and booked on felony charges of Third Degree Sexual Assault of a Child-3 counts and Child Abuse-3 counts. He was then jailed and had a bond set at $100.000.00 10%. Pena-Urrutia is in the country legally on a green card. The investigation is still ongoing.
