Marijuana Possession is Still Illegal in Nebraska

On Saturday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office stopped an eastbound vehicle on Hwy 275 east of Norfolk for speeding 84 mph in the 65 mph zone. During the stop a passenger was found in possession of more than 128 grams of marijuana and marijuana products and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. Jeremy Kovacs, 37, of New Franklin, Ohio admitted to possession of all the illegal marijuana products and advised he bought it all in Michigan enroute to Nebraska to work in the Norfolk area. Kovacs was surprised to find that marijuana was still illegal in Nebraska and he now faces possible jail time and hefty fines following his arrest for possession of the contraband that was seized and will be destroyed after court proceedings. The driver of the vehicle was cited for the speed violation and faces more than $200 in fines. “Potheads beware–Marijuana use and possession is still illegal in Nebraska and you stand out to law enforcement!” SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
