Columbus Man Arrested Following Trespassing Complaint South of Pilger

On Tuesday afternoon at about 2:15 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office was notified of a trespassing complaint south of Pilger off Hwy 15. A man who had been notified to not be on the property was observed walking around the residence. As the Sheriff’s office responded to the call for service a suspect vehicle was observed driving west on the Golf Course Road and was stopped. The lone male driver refused to cooperate and also refused commands to stop reaching out of view and show his hands. He was subsequently detained at gunpoint as he (suspect) stated “just shoot me” multiple times. The driver was positively identified as Jeffrey Wegner, 28, of rural Columbus who had been given written notice the day before not to be on the rural farm property. Wegner was then placed under arrest and jailed for Criminal Trespass and Obstructing a Police Officer. Wegner also faces a possible probation violation charge out of Platte County for Attempted First Degree Assault.
