Kentrell Monroe, 34, formerly of the Norfolk area was sentenced on Monday morning to Two (2) years in prison following his prior conviction for Possession of a Controlled Substance back in 2020 in Stanton County District court. Monroe was arrested by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office following the service of a search warrant at his residence in Woodland Park in January 2018, where a large amount of controlled substance (Ecstasy pills) were located hidden in an interior vent system. Monroe failed to show for his court sentencing in 2020 and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest. He was twice taken into custody on that warrant in Arizona and then Texas and fled both jurisdictions after being allowed by them to post cash bonds. His luck ran out two years ago when he was stopped in Arkansas with nearly 40 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. He was convicted on that charge and is serving a lengthy sentence in that state. The Sheriff’s office had again placed a hold on him and he appeared Monday morning by an arranged zoom hearing and was given the two year sentence to be served consecutively to his prison sentence in Arkansas.
