Just before 6:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office came across a eastbound vehicle that had apparently just ran off Hwy 24 near 560th Avenue. The driver was later found walking north on 560th Avenue and was found to be intoxicated. Thor Svenson Jr., 35, of Hoskins was placed under arrest for DWI after failing field sobriety test and later provided a breath sample at the Sheriff’s office showing his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit. He was then booked and jailed on a felony charge of Aggravated Third Offense DWI pending the posting of a cash bond. “We take drunk driving very seriously in Stanton County as everyone should, and this arrest only confirms that impaired drivers are on our roadways at all hours of the day and night. This is the third DWI arrest by the Sheriff’s office in the past five days in or near Stanton.” SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
