Two Injured When Van Strikes a Power Pole in Stanton

At about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle traffic accident at 13th and Kingwood in Stanton that sent the adult driver and a five year old female child passenger to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening head injuries. Upon arrival the female and child were found inside the severely damaged van and were quickly removed by law enforcement and emergency management for fear the power line was compromised and could come down on the van. They were then transported to FRHS by Stanton Rescue. The driver, Carrie Gladden, 44, of Stanton was unrestrained and struck the windshield with her head. The child was restrained, but not properly and did suffer a head injury. It is unclear as to why the van left the roadway and struck the power pole. Gladden was also cited for not having a valid Drivers License and a Child Restraint Violation. The van is considered a total loss and Gladden was operating on a NDN paper delivery route in Stanton. Stanton County Public Power also assisted at the scene.
