At about 10:20 a.m. on Thursday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle accident on Hwy 24 near 560th Avenue between Stanton and Norfolk. The accident occurred when a eastbound SUV had slowed to turn into a private drive and was struck from behind by a second eastbound SUV who attempted to swerve to miss the first SUV but struck the right rear end. An adult passenger in the first SUV was transported to FRHS by Norfolk Fire and Rescue and the driver and her three small children were treated at the scene and declined medical transport. That SUV driver indicated she became distracted just before the collision and tried to avoid the first SUV. Both SUV’s lost wheels in the collision. Stanton County Emergency Management and Stanton Fire also responded to the scene. “Seatbelts and child safety seats were in use by all those involved and clearly show that restraints do lessen or prevent more serious injuries.” SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
