Just after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two semi injury accident on Hwy 15 about ten miles south of Pilger. The accident occurred when a southbound semi lost control due to road and weather conditions and crossed the center line into the northbound lane then collided nearly head-on with a northbound semi and then struck and took out the cable guardrail on the west side of Hwy 15. The 54 year old female driver of the northbound semi who is from Wisner was trapped in her semi until her drivers door was forced open by first responders and she was then transported by Clarkson Fire and Rescue to the West Point hospital for treatment of her injuries. The 29 year old driver of the southbound semi who was from Texas was uninjured. The roadway was blocked until nearly 9:00 p.m. as the scene was investigated and cleared. Pilger Fire and Rescue and Stanton County Emergency Management also responded to the accident scene. The Sheriff’s office was also busy before and after the accident with multiple vehicles that slid off the roadway and semis that could not get up hills on Hwy 275. Hwy 275 was officially closed around 7:00 p.m. by NDOT at the request of Stanton County, due to unsafe conditions and poor visibility (White Out). “No one should be out unless its an absolute emergency as you are risking your lives and those of first responders” SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
