At about 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger observed a vehicle in Stanton being driven by Kyle Kirstine, 43, of Norfolk who was known to have several felony arrest warrants out of Stanton County. As soon as a second marked patrol unit was in place an attempt to stop Kirstine on Hwy 24 was undertaken. Kirstine refused to stop and drove off towards Norfolk refusing to pull over. He continued to drive westbound on Hwy 24, and assistance was then requested from Norfolk P.D. to attempt to set up deflation devices at Hwy 24 and 275. Kirstine entered that intersection against a red light and deflation spikes were deployed and his vehicle came to stop in the intersection. Kirstine and a female passenger were then taken into custody at gunpoint. Kirstine was physically subdued and was later transported to a jail facility on the warrants and new charges of Speeding and Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest. The female passenger was released with no charge and advised she asked Kirstine numerous times to stop or pull over during the pursuit. Kirstine also had a new warrant issued Tuesday morning in Stanton County Court for Failure to Appear in court.
