Sheriff Mike Unger and five other veterans were recognized on Veterans Day morning during the annual Stanton Veterans Day program at the Stanton High School. The veterans received handmade “Quilts of Valor” after being nominated by Stanton County Veterans Service Officer, Anthony McPhillips. Sheriff Unger served in the U.S. Army during the height of the Cold War in West Germany as a Military Police Officer. The Sheriff’s office wishes to thank all active duty personnel and veterans, especially those currently serving the Sheriff’s office along with Sheriff Unger.
