Stanton Teenager Injured in Rollover Accident S.E. of Stanton on County Road

Just after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle rollover accident on 830th Road about seven miles southeast of Stanton. The accident occurred when a westbound pickup driven by Katie Nichols, 18, of Stanton lost control of her Chevy pickup and it entered the south ditch rolling several times. Nichols was not wearing a seatbelt and was fortunate not to be ejected from the wreckage as it rolled. She was transported to FRHS for treatment by Stanton Rescue. Speed is considered a possible factor in the accident and the pickup is a total loss. This is the second injury accident in the past 48 hours that the Sheriff’s office investigated. On Thursday evening at about 7:34 p.m., the Sheriff’s office responded to an injury accident at the intersection of Old Hwy 35 and East Benjamin Avenue near Woodland Park. This accident occurred when a 32-year-old driver failed to yield to an eastbound car on East Benjamin Avenue. The driver and his six-year-old passenger were transported to FRHS by Norfolk Rescue for treatment. The driver of the second vehicle declined medical transport at the scene. This accident blocked the roadway for about an hour as it was cleared. Seatbelts appear to have been in use.
