Stanton Man Arrested for Felony Child Abuse for Allegedly Striking a 10-Year-Old Child With a Belt

Following an investigation of Child Abuse on Saturday afternoon, the Stanton County Sheriff’s office arrested a 34-year-old rural Stanton man for allegedly beating a 10-year-old boy with an adult sized belt. Raymond VA Villa is alleged to have struck the child multiple times earlier this week at his Stanton residence. The 10-year-old is not related to Villa and was temporarily staying at the residence with his father. The 10 year old had obvious marks and bruises on his lower body. Villa is also believed to have struck his 13-year-old son with the same belt. Villa was jailed pending the setting of a bond on the Class IIIA felony. The child was removed from the residence and placed with his mother. The Department of Health and Human Services also assisted in the investigation.
