On Sunday afternoon the Sheriff’s office was notified that a human skull was found in Union Creek, southwest of Stanton by a fisherman checking fishing spots. The Sheriff’s office is investigating the discovery and the skull which is mostly intact will be evaluated by a forensic anthropologist to determine characteristics and if the skull is historical. This is the fifth discovery of a human skull or human remains that have been discovered in Stanton County in the last five years since the 2019 flooding that devastated the county waterways and roadways. The skull appears to have been in the creek bank for a significant period of time.
