At about 10:50 a.m. on Saturday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a man being seriously injured in a lawn mower accident. The man was found to have lost control of his riding mower and it plunged with him on it more than 30 feet down an embankment into the Maskenthine creek landing on its side in the water in the 1100 block of Douglas Street in Stanton. The 63 year old man was stabilized at the scene by first responders and was later transported by Norfolk Fire and Rescue to FRHS for treatment. Alcohol use may have been a contributing factor and a winch from a tow truck had to be used to remove the zero turn mower from the creek.
