On Friday afternoon at about 3:00 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office stopped a southbound car on Hwy 15 about eight miles south of Pilger for speeding. The driver, Delvin Eberado Velasquez-Romero, 32, of Houston, Texas was found to have no operator’s license and had fictitious Texas In-Transits on the vehicle. A further inquiry revealed that he was wanted on five felony charges out of Benton County, Indiana. Velasquez-Romero spoke limited English and his identity was confirmed using a mobile fingerprint instrument at the scene. Velasquez-Romero was jailed on the felony arrest warrant pending extradition proceedings back to Indiana. It is believed Velasquez-Romero is unlawfully in this country. ” This is an example of diligent police work by a deputy on patrol in a remote portion of the county doing what he was hired and trained to do.”, said Sheriff Mike Unger.
