As Monday turned to afternoon the Sheriff’s office was kept busy with numerous accidents and vehicles sliding off area highways due to icy conditions and heavy snow. One accident involved two pickups about 4 miles south of Stanton that collided nearly head-on when a southbound pickup slid into the path of a northbound pickup. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and fortunately walked away with no serious injuries, Driving conditions deteriorated throughout the afternoon to the point no travel is recommended in Stanton County until late morning on Tuesday.
