Stanton Teenager Lucky Not to Be Seriously Injured in Hwy 24 Accident

Just before noon on Thursday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle traffic accident that sent a Stanton teenager to the hospital. The 19 year old college student was eastbound on Hwy 24 about five miles west of Stanton when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the south ditch and travelled for more than a hundred yards at highway speed before encountering and striking a creek bed and a small grove of trees and finally coming to rest about thirty yards farther east in the ditch. The teen was transported by Stanton Rescue to FRHS for treatment. Stanton Emergency Management also assisted at the scene. Seatbelts were in use and are credited with lessening injuries to the lone driver.
