At about 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle accident that seriously injured a 66 year old Stanton man. The accident occurred when a westbound SUV, driven by William Hines, 66, of Stanton lost control on Hwy 24 about six miles West of Stanton. The SUV crossed the highway entered the south ditch became airborne striking a dirt embankment and ended up going thru a fence before coming to rest. Hines was located outside the SUV and was taken to FRHS by Stanton Rescue. Seatbelts were not in use and airbags did deploy. The SUV is considered a total loss. Road conditions at the time were extremely hazardous due to heavy ice on the roadway.
