Norfolk Man Arrested During Traffic Stop for Possession of Cocaine

At about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office stopped a vehicle for speeding and operating a defective vehicle on Hwy 275 north of Stanton. The driver was identified as Kenneth Smith, 45, of Norfolk. Smith was found to be on probation and a subsequent search of him produced cocaine and also marijuana and drug paraphernalia that he had thrown to the ground in an attempt to conceal it. Smith was placed under arrest for felony possession of a controlled substance and jailed pending the setting of a bond. Smith was on probation for a previous drug violation.
