Two Omaha Men Taken Into Custody in Possession of Stolen Vehicle

On Tuesday evening at about 6:10 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office stopped a speeding pickup travelling westbound at 92 mph in the 70 mph zone on Hwy 275 near Stanton and found the vehicle was reported stolen in Omaha earlier in the day. The driver of the pickup, John Stanley Newberry III, 48, of Omaha was also found to have a suspended drivers license and an active arrest warrant from Sarpy County for failure to appear. A passenger Maurice Brown, 29, of Omaha was also taken into custody and during the contact concentrated THC was located in the stolen pickup and that is a felony drug violation. Both men were booked at the Sheriff’s office and face theft and drug related charges, The stolen 2021 Chevy pickup was impounded at the request of the Omaha P.D.
