Just after 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle accident that sent five people to the hospital for treatment. The accident occurred at the Hwy 32 and Hwy 57 junction 8 miles south of Stanton, when an eastbound pickup driven by Angel Sandoval, 31, of Madison pulled into the path of a south bound SUV driven by Mistie Foote, 34, of Clarkson. The collision forced both vehicles off the roadway in the west ditch. Sandoval was trapped in the wreckage and had to be removed. Sandoval and his two children age 8 and 10 were all transported to FRHS in Norfolk by ambulance. Foote and her teenage daughter were also transported to FRHS by ambulance. Stanton Fire/Rescue along with Leigh and Clarkson Rescue responded to the scene. The highway intersection was partially blocked for just over an hour as the scene was cleared. Seatbelts were in use and airbags deployed in both vehicles and are credited with preventing more serious injuries.
