Motorcycle/Deer Accident Sends Husband and Wife to Hospital

Just after 1:05 a.m. on Saturday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a motorcycle/deer accident that sent two Norfolk residents to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The accident occurred about four miles West of Stanton on Hwy 24, when a westbound Triumph motorcycle driven by David Burgess, 52, struck a deer crossing the roadway. The impact ejected both Burgess and his passenger, Jessica Burgess, 39 onto the roadway and south ditch. Both were transported by ambulance to FRHS for treatment and the deer was killed in the accident. Helmets were in use and prevented more serious injuries to both riders. Stanton Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.
