At approximately 7:15 a.m. on Thursday morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a car versus deer accident on Hwy 24 about three miles west of Stanton. The accident occurred when a westbound SUV encountered several deer on the highway and was unable to avoid the collision. The 68 year old female driver was shaken up in the accident and transported to Faith Health by ambulance complaining of chest pain. Seatbelts were in use and airbags did deploy in the accident. The scene slowed traffic in the area for about 30 minutes as the scene was cleared. There was dense fog in the area at the time of the accident. “This area is known for its deer activity and is posted as such, the Sheriff’s office ask everyone to take a little extra time and be extra vigilant during this time of year as the deer are becoming more active with hunting season right around the corner.”
