At about noon on friday, the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a car versus bicycle traffic accident about a 1/4 mile east of the Highway 35 and Benjamin intersection on East Benjamin Avenue. The accident occurred when the westbound bicycle driven by a 66 year old Woodland park man was riding against traffic and collided with a sedan driven by a 17 year old female who was turning left onto East Benjamin avenue from a private driveway. The impact forced the bicycle and rider to fly over the front hood of the car and then came to rest on the concrete pavement. The bike rider was transported to Faith Health by NorfolK Fire and Rescue. The car driver was not injured and speed was not a factor nor was there any alcohol involvement. Stanton County Emergency Management also responded to assist at the scene that blocked the roadway for about 45 minutes as it was investigated.
