7 Juveniles and 52 Animals Removed from Pilger Residence after Service of Two Seperate Search Warrants

On April 9th, the Stanton County Sheriff’s office served a search warrant at 405 East Oak Street in Pilger. As a result of that warrant, the residence was found to be unsafe and unsanitary for the seven children (ages 3 months to 13 years old) that had lived there until being removed in March by the Sheriff’s office and placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services. The residence showed animal feces and mold throughout the residence. On April 15th the Sheriff’s office with assistance from the Nebraska Humane Society out of Omaha removed 52 animals from inside the same residence and surrounding fenced property. 25 dogs of various breeds, 12 rabbits, 9 cats, 4 goats and two miniature ponies were removed from the residence with many inside the residence. All the animals were given to the custody of the Humane Society who transported them back to Omaha for examinations and care. A Veterinarian attached to the Humane Society was also present during the search warrant service. The adult residents, Daniel Scott, 44, and his wife, Paige Scott, 32, both of Pilger were cited for Animal Neglect and additional criminal charges are pending review by the Stanton County Attorney’s office. “As unfortunate as this investigation is we are very thankful for the efforts of investigating Deputies Bosler and Kleensang over the past month and unbelievable assistance given by the Nebraska Humane Society in a gut-wrenching investigation.” SHERIFF MIKE UNGER
