Tuesday morning snow and ice and turned Stanton County Roads into a slippery mess with multiple accidents and vehicles in the ditch. The first reported accident came in at 6:46 a.m. just east of the old Tony’s Steakhouse on Hwy 275 where a pickup that had been eastbound lost control and crossed the west bound lane and rolled into the north ditch. The lone male driver declined medical transport from Pilger Rescue who responded to the accident. Seatbelts were in use at the time and road conditions were very poor at the time. The driver was cited for having No Drivers License.
A second injury accident was reported at about 7:30 a.m. near the the intersection of Hwy 275 and 570th Avenue, about 4 miles west of Pilger. It occurred when a westbound pickup lost control and crossed the eastbound lanes of Hwy 275 and struck a dirt embankment. The driver suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage. Seatbelts were not in use and airbags did deploy and the steering wheel was broken from body impact. The male driver was transported to FRHS by Pilger Rescue for treatment. Wisner Rescue also assisted at the scene. There was also a rollover on Hwy 35 south of Woodland Park with no injuries.
