On Friday afternoon at about 4:50 p.m. the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a two vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of 17th Street and Veterans Avenue (Hwy 24) in Stanton that sent one driver to the hospital. The accident occurred when an eastbound SUV stopped to turn off the highway and was struck from behind by an eastbound pickup. The driver of the SUV, Danielle Lenser, 35, of rural Stanton was transported to FRHS by Stanton Fire and Rescue. The driver of the pickup Austin Sayers, 19, of Clarkson and a passenger were not injured. Seatbelts were in use and both vehicles suffered major damage. The highway was closed for about 45 minutes as the scene was investigated and cleared. Stanton County Emergency Management also assisted at the scene.
