Seatbelts Do Their Job Again in Rollover Accident

At about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon the Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to and investigated a one vehicle rollover accident on Northeast Industrial Highway about 1/4 mile east of the Nucor entrance northeast of Norfolk. The accident occurred when an 18 year old teenage girl from Winside was westbound on the highway and dropped off the roadway and then lost control as the sedan crossed over the travel lanes and entered the south ditch striking a dirt embankment and rolling onto its top. The lone driver who was wearing a seatbelt was ale to crawl out of the wreckage. The was treated at the scene extensively by Hoskins Woodland Park Fire and Rescue and then transported to Faith Health by family for treatment. “Seatbelts are credited with preventing more serious injuries or a worse outcome.” The vehicle was considered a total loss.
